Rant

I graduated in 2006. I was lucky enough to land a part time job with the USPS later that year. It is hardly a good job, no guaranteed hours, no benefits but its better than nothing. I work very hard for hours and still fall short. By working there I deliver to hundreds of businesses and went through a period where ... Read MoreI took the time to talk to those companies about their employment opportunities and not a single one was in a position to hire anyone new other than janitorial staff or part time factory workers. Do I think I deserve a good job? Yes. I went to college, I work very hard, am creative, talented and have a load of work experience. The FACT is in this economy companies can't afford freshly college educated, creative and talented people. So does that mean I should just take the "privileged" wage of 9.50 an hour? Without benefits? Put that degree to work putting together semiconductors? No. I shouldn't have to settle. Why? Because this is AMERICA...this is the place where people are supposed to "work hard, be ambitious and get a good college education" so they can "do anything they want if they put their mind to it!" Well this "dream" is simply that. A dream. In this economy, there is nothing someone like me can do but apply, interview, wait, and work two or three jobs just to pay ... Read Morebills. This is how we were raised. Every class I ever had I was told "Go to college, work hard, get a good job you love and live life to the fullest." Well the exact opposite is happening to me and millions of people my age around the world, and no one seems to give a shit. Do I think everyone has a right to a good job? Hell yes they do as long as its proportionate to their education and skills. Since things are tough, some of us are going BACK to school so we can earn graduate degrees and MAYBE have a leg up. But even then, I am afraid these companies have no desire to bring in new people at a living wage. I saw a man with 30 years experience in factory management experience get offered 10 an hour as a manager of a production factory. TEN DOLLARS AN HOUR. This is not a living wage and a man with 30 years experience deserves a good job and good pay. He shouldn't feel like a nobody just because companies can't or WON'T pay for his skills. It's a sad, ... Read Moresad state of affairs and it isn't as simple as going around and applying. Shit, go look at craigslist's pathetic job listings. 20/dinner as a personal chef, which breaks down to about 3 bucks an hour. That's just an example of how business owners aren't willing to pay what people are worth and I believe it's horseshit.

Don't Really Blog Much Anymore

As sung to the tune of "Don't get around much anymore."

This is merely an identifying and stating blog wherein I let you all (small number of readers) know I am good. Working two jobs, starting school again in a couple weeks and taking care of Dodger. He broke his hind legs trying to climb a chain link fence. He needed surgery to re-articulate a slipped growth plate. He's spent the last couple month in a crate but now he is free and crazy! Handful.

Dodgers are awesome but this winning every other game stuff has to stop.

I am keeping it short. Not sure if I'll do more later or tomorrow. Anyway.

Peace

Ok, what the fuck?

I just saw a commercial from Saturn advertising that if you lose your job they will pay your payments for up to nine months. I am sure there is other bullshit associated with this deal but I wondered this...

Doesn't GM own Saturn? And didn't the treasury do this to warn them about their future?

Ok, so why the fuck is Saturn advertising customer confidence?!?!?!?!

Just askin...

Gun buyback a STUPID idea

All over the country counties and cities are offering money for guns. What criminal would sell their gun to the city for a gift card worth less than the gun is worth? A criminal would just sell it to another criminal for twice what the City would offer.

Here's the problem, criminals want and use guns on a regular basis. Regular folks, the people who need protection from criminals, are the ones who need to keep their guns. So, how does it make sense to get people to sell their guns? IT DOESN'T. Why would you ask the people to take their guns out of their own hands? Why would you leave them defenseless to people who willingly use guns to kill?

Not clear enough for you?

Criminals don't sell back guns, regular people do. They get that little sense of goodness inside them and say "Hey I can make a difference for some good!" and they go down to the police station and get 100 bucks for their 9mm then guess who has a gun and who doesn't? The criminals have the guns and the regular folks have a 100 dollar gift card. Regular people are the ones who want to do better, who want things to be better but THEY AREN'T THE ONES SHOOTING PEOPLE. That's absurd.

Still haven't figured it out?

Then you are a moron.
